UMUC’s Career Services hosted its largest Virtual Recruiter Session on Thursday, May 17th featuring ten organizations and helping to connect more than 650 UMUC students and alumni attendees with participating employers. Employers from various industries were represented in the event, including Allegis Global Solutions, Andrews Federal Credit Union, Deloitte, DXC Technology, General Dynamics Information Technology, Leidos, Metropolitan Police Department, NikSoft, RPI Group, Watershed Solutions, and WMATA. During the event, members of the UMUC career advising team were also available via a virtual booth to answer questions and schedule appointments.
UMUC Career Services recently hosted more than 1,300 attendees for its in-person career fair on March 7 and its virtual career fair on March 14. Students and alumni attended the events from various locations, ranging from Maryland to California, with the opportunity to connect with national companies.
UMUC’s Career Services team hosted one of its most attended Virtual Recruiter Sessions on January 25, 2018 with 10 organizations and more than 300 UMUC alumni and students who participated. Employers from various industries were represented in the event, which included Ernst & Young, UMUC HR, GCubed, Inc., Concord Hospitality, netPolarity, Entertainment Cruises, DXC Technology, Association of American Medical Colleges, Child Care Aware of America, and Library of Congress.
On November 15, 2017, UMUC’s Career Services and Alumni Relations team hosted its largest Virtual Recruiter Session featuring eight organizations and more than 350 UMUC alumni and student attendees. Several employers from various industries had the opportunity to connect directly with attendees through chat and video. Featured employers included Marriott, Navy Federal Credit Union, eGlobal Tech, Mar Inc., First Data, Curzon Staffing, Paradyme Management, and Fastenal. UMUC alumni and students represented various career fields and came prepared to deliver their elevator pitches to employers.
On October 19th, 2017, University of Maryland University College’s (UMUC) Career Services team hosted more than 250 students and alumni online and in-person for a Recruiter Session featuring CSRA, Randstad, RTGX, and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The event provided attendees information and insights surrounding the various career opportunities and work culture within each organization.
UMUC’s Career Services and Alumni Relations team recently hosted more than 150 attendees for a Recruiter Session featuring ICF International, Library of Congress, Broadsoft, and the Department of Energy and Environment at the UMUC Academic Center in Largo and online. Through the event, students and alumni learned more about each organization and connected directly with recruiters and program managers from various career industries including Business Administration, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and Emergency Management.
UMUC’s Career Services team recently hosted more than 1,200 attendees for its in-person career fair on March 9 and its virtual career fair on March 14. Each event provided students, alumni, and employers the appropriate platform to connect based on their needs.
The in-person career fair took place at the College Park Marriott in Adelphi, Maryland and included 49 employers. More than 600 UMUC students and alumni attended and connected face-to-face with recruiters. Among the companies in attendance were General Dynamics Mission Systems, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, GEICO, KPMG, CACI, and U.S. Secret Service. Recruiters shared a variety of career opportunities including those in cybersecurity, IT, healthcare administration, finance and accounting, and more. Many recruiters offered business cards and contact information to allow attendees to follow up directly.
UMUC’s Career Services team also hosted a virtual career fair, which had 54 employers and more than 600 attendees. Attendees chatted virtually with featured employers including Deloitte, M&T Bank, UPS, Lunarline, and CSRA. Recruiters had the opportunity to select resumes from the event and initiate conversations with students and alumni based on their qualifications. Some recruiters identified strong candidates from the event by sorting through resumes and, as a result, scheduled interviews.
Norman Workman, Senior Technical Recruiter for IntelliDyne, shared that he scheduled interviews immediately following the event.
“We hope to be able to schedule a few more UMUC alumni and students we met with at the career fair for interviews as suitable positions are opened,” Workman said. “We will definitely be focused on UMUC students for future opportunities, especially those that require Network & Cyber Security education and experience.”
Mareena Shipp, HR Director for GCubed Technology, attended both the in-person and online fair.
“I have attended more career fairs than I can count,” Shipp said. “I can honestly say, I was very impressed with the caliber of students enrolled in UMUC. I look forward to working more with UMUC in the future.”
UMUC’s Career Services team will continue to track success from the in-person and online event, and will work to connect more students and alumni with employers that have opportunities that match their skillsets.
