Everything You Need to Know About the 2018 Spring Career Fair App and Employer List

For the in-person University of Maryland University College (UMUC) 2018 Spring Career Fair on Wednesday, March 7, an exclusive app is available to provide students and alumni access to tips to prepare for success, a list of participating employers and the open jobs they are looking to fill, directions, and so much more.

The app will provide you resources before, during, and after the event to make sure you are connected to information to help you make a wonderful impression with hiring employers both during the fair and beyond.

Don’t wait till the day of the fair to access everything you need to know about this year’s in-person career fair. Follow the steps below to get started.

Create your profile.
This year, we have an exciting new feature that will enable you to share your professional profile and resume digitally with recruiters. For this, you’ll need to create a profile and download our partner mobile app to create your digital profile. If you have not done so already, please follow the instructions below to create your profile:

  • Click here to visit ScanShake and create your profile
  • After creating your profile and password, make sure to click “Register Now” only once
  • After successfully completing your profile, ScanShake will email your QR code to you (this is the QR code you will use during the career fair to exchange information with employers)

Download the app.
By downloading the app, you will receive a unique QR code of your profile that you will be able to present to participating employers during the career fair. The employer will then scan your QR code to learn more about you, and simultaneously you will also receive their contact information for further follow up after the career fair. Follow the directions below to download the app:

  • Visit your mobile app store and search “ScanShake Visitor
  • Download the “ScanShake Visitor” mobile app
  • To login, enter the same email and password you included when setting up your profile
  • Check your profile and upload your resume to get the best experience out of the fair

Research the employers.
Do your research on what employers are participating and what jobs they are looking to fill. Doing your research ahead of time will help you concentrate on speaking with employers who have open positions that match your skill sets.

The employer list can be found in the career fair app. After downloading the app, simply click on “UMUC 2018 Spring Career Fair,” and click on the “All Exhibitors” tabs to view the list of participating employers. Find out more about each employer by selecting each of the logos. Additionally, you can also UMUC In-Person 2018 Spring Career Fair Employer List to download and view the employer list.

Collect employer details.
During the event, you will use the QR code from your profile to exchange information with employers. This technology will allow you to electronically share and transfer information you included on your profile with employers you meet at the career fair. In exchange, you will also receive information about the employer. Use this information wisely, as it will help you follow up with the recruiters after the fair.

Be sure to start familiarizing yourself with the app today! Check back often as additional tabs, resources, and employers will be added as we get closer to March 7.
