November Virtual Recruiter Session Recap

On November 15, 2017, UMUC’s Career Services and Alumni Relations team hosted its largest Virtual Recruiter Session featuring eight organizations and more than 350 UMUC alumni and student attendees. Several employers from various industries had the opportunity to connect directly with attendees through chat and video. Featured employers included Marriott, Navy Federal Credit Union, eGlobal Tech, Mar Inc., First Data, Curzon Staffing, Paradyme Management, and Fastenal. UMUC alumni and students represented various career fields and came prepared to deliver their elevator pitches to employers.

Prior to the event, UMUC’s Career Services staff worked closely with registrants by hosting webinars and sending out targeted emails to ensure both employers and attendees had a great experience. Career advising specialists encouraged students and alumni to research the companies that participated to maximize the quality of their time during the chats. UMUC’s Career Services and Alumni Relations staff members were also available during the event to answer any questions.

During the event, recruiters had access to student and alumni resumes and had the opportunity to initiate one-on-one chats within their booth. Attendees also had the opportunity to post questions for recruiters through the discussion board, and several students and alumni posted their elevator pitch and expressed interest in particular organizations.

Participants can follow up with the organizations who participated in the event after they have applied to open positions. The contact information for the participating employers is below:
