Recruiter Session with ICF International, Library of Congress, Broadsoft, and the Department of Energy and Environment

UMUC’s Career Services and Alumni Relations team recently hosted more than 150 attendees for a Recruiter Session featuring ICF International, Library of Congress, Broadsoft, and the Department of Energy and Environment at the UMUC Academic Center in Largo and online. Through the event, students and alumni learned more about each organization and connected directly with recruiters and program managers from various career industries including Business Administration, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and Emergency Management.

The event began with a panel where each organization was represented by a recruiter or manager who shared insight about the types of candidates they recruit, the types of positions they represent, the application process, and helpful tips for career transitioners. The panel also included time for questions from the attendees.

The Recruiter Session also afforded attendees with the opportunity to engage in one-on-one “Speed Networking” interviewing session with recruiters from each organization to give them a chance to pitch their skill sets to the representatives and ask the representatives industry and organizational specific questions. Prior to the event, UMUC’s Career Services team also encouraged students and alumni to research the companies and the different open positions at each company prior to the event to increase their marketability. Career Services and Alumni Relations staff members were also available during the event to network and answer questions.

“It was a pleasure participating,” said ICF Senior Recruiter  Aric Kabillio. “The quality of the student that UMUC produces really shined through. We came away (from the event) with some good prospects and have at least one interview that we are scheduling!”

“We had a really great overall experience at this event and a few candidates stood out for me,” said UMUC alumnus and the Department of Energy and Environment Senior Human Resources Manager Alfred Gamble. “As an alumnus of UMUC I am proud to have been on the one side as a student and now on the other side recruiting other students.”
