Essential Tools for Career Success

Did you know, UMUC students and alumni have exclusive access to a variety of online career tools that can assist in your job search and career development? You might already know that UMUC Career Services offers career advising appointments, hosts employer recruiting sessions, and presents informational webinars, but here are the self-service tools housed within UMUC’s CareerQuest job portal.

Each tool is free to use for UMUC students and alumni, and can be accessed in the Tools/Resources section of CareerQuest. They provide you with the ability to research companies and industries, search job postings, create and critique resumes, record practice interviews, assess your career strengths, and much more.

Here is a brief description of each:

    • CareerSpots – Access short, career-related videos to aid you in your job search.
    • Resunate – Compare your resume to a specific job description and receive tailoring instructions.
    • Career Insider/Vault – Get insider information on companies, jobs, and schools through rankings and reviews.
    • CareerQuest Resume Builder – Create a basic first resume from scratch.
    • InterviewStream – Choose from thousands of questions, record practice interviews and assess your performance.
    • VMock – Uses algorithms to analyze your resume and provide instant feedback for improvements.
