January: National Mentor Month

January is National Mentor Month. This month is dedicated to thanking and honoring mentors who play an important role in providing guidance to others. Throughout this month at UMUC, we’ll be asking our students and alumni to tell us about their mentoring experiences and to share their appreciation for a mentor in their life.

Thank Your Mentor Day
January 21, 2016 is “Thank Your Mentor Day.” This day centers around saying “thank you” to your mentor(s) for listening, guiding, and teaching you, and showing your gratitude for their time.

UMUC Mentor Program Online Networking Hour
Still trying to decide whether or not you need a mentor? Or maybe you are not sure where to find one? In honor of National Mentor Month, the UMUC Mentor Program is hosting its first online mentoring networking event on Thursday, January 28 from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. This event will be an opportunity to both learn more about the UMUC Mentor Program and connect with current UMUC alumni mentors and mentees. If you’re interested in attending this online networking event, please click here.

Mentors are an important part of personal and professional development, so the month of January is dedicated entirely to them and all they do for their mentees all year long. To find a mentor or to become a mentor today, please visit umuc.edu/mentor.
